Breaking: Yoruba actor dies in tragic road accident

Nigeria’s film industry has been thrown into mourning following the death of Yoruba actor, filmmaker and comedian Adeshina Okiki Janmole, popularly known as Janmole.

The actor reportedly died in a fatal road accident, according to reports that emerged on Tuesday.

Details surrounding the crash remained unclear as of press time.

The tragic development was confirmed by actor Akin Olaiya, who shared a video from the accident scene and expressed grief over the loss.

He wrote: “Inalilahi Wainalilahi Rojihuna. This is sad. Rest in peace, Adeshina Okiki Janmole.”

The death has sparked an outpouring of tributes from colleagues and stakeholders in the entertainment industry.

President of the Theatre Arts and Motion Pictures Practitioners Association of Nigeria (TAMPAN), Bolaji Amusan (Mr Latin), also mourned the late actor and offered prayers for his family and associates.

He said: “May the soul of our departed colleague, Adesina Okiki Janmole, who tragically lost his life in an accident, rest in perfect peace.

“May God grant his family, friends, and colleagues the strength and comfort to bear this irreparable loss.”

Mr Latin added: “He will be greatly missed. Amen.”

Janmole was widely known in the Yoruba movie industry for his comic roles, screen presence and contributions to Nollywood over the years.

His death comes nearly four years after he survived a fire incident along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, an experience many considered a narrow escape.

The late actor built a strong following through his performances and remained a familiar face among movie lovers and industry colleagues.

His passing marks another loss for Nigeria’s entertainment industry, with tributes continuing to pour in from fellow actors, filmmakers and admirers remembering his contributions to the growth of Yoruba cinema.
