A 32-year-old Zimbabwean national has been remanded in custody after appearing before the Giyani Magistrate’s Court following his arrest in connection with a large dagga seizure in the Giyani policing area.
The accused, identified as Lovers Moyo, made his court appearance on Friday, where the matter was postponed to 12 June 2026 for a formal bail application and further police investigations.
Moyo was arrested on 3 June 2026 during an operation carried out by a private security company working alongside the South African Police Service.
Officers intercepted a Nissan Qashqai along the R529 and R81 intersection, where a search of the vehicle led to the discovery of seven wrapped brown bags and 30 black plastic packets containing dagga, with an estimated street value of R300,000.
Authorities also found that the vehicle was fitted with registration plates that did not match its official records.
Police investigations into the matter are continuing.
