Five people have lost their lives on the spot after an Eldoret shuttle sadly got into a head-on collision with a trailer in a horrific midnight accident along the Webuye Road.

The shuttle was coming from Nairobi when it got into a head-on collision with the trailer that was carrying a 40-foot container with goods; the latter dragged the shuttle for some distance.
“We were sleeping in our houses when we heard a thunderous noise from outside, and when we got there, we found an Eldoret Shuttle had collided badly with a trailer with a contaner and it was dragged all the way to a shamba with maize,”said an eyewitness.
At the scene of the accident, there were clothes, papers, and the container had fallen to its side, and so had the other part of the trailer.
Why are Bungoma residents angry at the government?
Amid the grief and rescue efforts, human greed reared its ugly head; as the passengers lay dying in the mangled wreckage, a group of local youth attempted to loot the trailer. Four of them were arrested on the spot as police were already at the scene coordinating rescue efforts and also keeping an eye on people who may want to steal from the trailer.

“We are pleading with the government to release the people who were arrested and taken to jail;they never meant to steal as the container is too hard to open,” said a bystander.
