Chelsea winger Pedro Neto has joked that he was not surprised after being labelled the most handsome player at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The Portugal international responded with humour after his country’s press officer introduced him during a media conference in Florida as the tournament’s “most handsome player.”
Neto embraced the moment, saying the recognition came as no surprise to him.
“I think I’m not surprised at all! It’s something completely normal. “It wasn’t even a topic in the dressing room because the group unanimously agreed that I’m the most handsome,” he joked.
The light-hearted exchange came as Portugal prepare for their decisive Group K clash with Colombia.
Neto later turned his attention to football matters, praising captain Cristiano Ronaldo following the veteran’s two-goal performance in Portugal’s 5-0 victory over Uzbekistan.
The Chelsea forward said Ronaldo’s passion for scoring inspires the entire squad. Neto said: “It was obvious that the group was happy for him, especially because we know that he lives for goals, he is obsessed with it.
“We like to see the best doing what he loves most.” He added that helping Ronaldo achieve more success at the World Cup has become an added motivation for the players.
“Playing with the pressure of helping him score in the World Cup is an extra motivation. “We really want to help him achieve this goal, especially for everything he has already given to Portugal.”
Portugal head into their final group match knowing victory over Colombia will secure top spot in Group K. Despite the possibility of different knockout paths depending on the final standings, Neto insisted the team is focused only on winning.
He said: “To be honest, sometimes we look at the scenarios if we finish second or third, but the most important thing is to maintain our mentality. “We want to be the best and we are going to face Colombia to win and finish in first place.”
