Former France striker Olivier Giroud has revealed the heartfelt message he sent to Kylian Mbappé after the French captain surpassed his long-standing record to become France’s all-time leading goalscorer.
Speaking on the historic achievement, Giroud said he immediately reached out to Mbappé to congratulate him on the milestone.
“I texted Mbappé straight after he broke my record to become the all-time goalscorer for France,” Giroud said.
According to the former Arsenal and AC Milan forward, his message was filled with admiration and support.
“I wrote: ‘Congrats bro, I am really happy for you, and don’t forget to save me your jersey!’”
Giroud also disclosed that Mbappé had already promised to gift him the historic shirt, a gesture that further highlighted the strong bond between the two France internationals.
“Kylian had already promised me he would give me the shirt,” Giroud added.
