Customs warns applicants against fake recruitment screening notices

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has warned Nigerians to disregard two documents circulating on social media claiming to announce screening schedules for candidates who passed the Computer-Based Test in the agency’s ongoing recruitment exercise.

In a statement posted on its verified X account on Wednesday, the Service described the documents as fake and said they did not originate from the NCS.

The alert stated: “FAKE NEWS ALERT. The attention of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has been drawn to a fake content currently circulating on social media.

“The NCS wishes to state clearly that these claims are false and did not originate from the Service.”

The forged notices, which were marked “FAKE” in the official post, contained purported screening dates in early June 2026 and listed venues across different zones.

They also outlined requirements for the alleged exercise, including dress codes and identification documents.

The Service urged applicants and members of the public to ignore the messages and rely only on information released through its official communication channels.

The clarification comes amid sustained public interest in the 2024/2025 recruitment exercise, which has progressed through several stages, including applications, Computer-Based Tests and profile updates.

Earlier in May 2026, the NCS opened a portal for shortlisted candidates to complete final screening updates ahead of interviews and physical screening, with a deadline of May 10.

The Service has repeatedly maintained that the recruitment process is free and warned applicants against making payments to any individual or group at any stage of the exercise.

The NCS has also continued to caution applicants against scammers and fake announcements targeting candidates seeking updates on the recruitment process.
