Fausat Temitope Dauda Empowers Nursing Mothers, Reaffirms Commitment To Maternal & Child Health

The Wife of the Executive Chairman of Ikeja Local Government, Mrs. Fausat Temitope Dauda, today organised a Maternal and Child Wellness Support Programme aimed at promoting the health and well-being of pregnant women, nursing mothers and their babies across the local government.

 

In her welcome remarks, Mrs. Dauda expressed her passion for the welfare of mothers and children, stressing that healthy mothers and children are the foundation of every prosperous society. She noted that the initiative was designed to support nursing mothers, encourage proper childcare and complement the efforts of the Ikeja Local Government in delivering quality healthcare services to residents.

The Executive Chairman of Ikeja Local Government, Comrade Akeem Olalekan Dauda (AKOD), in his brief remarks, commended the initiative and reiterated his administration’s unwavering commitment to improving healthcare delivery in line with the I.K.E.J.A Agenda. He encouraged mothers to take advantage of available primary healthcare services, ensure regular immunisation for their children and continue to prioritise healthy living.

The Medical Officer of Health, Dr. Awodele, also addressed participants, encouraging nursing mothers to embrace exclusive breastfeeding, adhere to routine immunisation schedules and always seek professional medical attention whenever necessary. Other health practitioners equally enlightened participants on maternal and child healthcare, nutrition and infant wellness.

 

The highlight of the programme was the presentation of care packages containing essential items to nursing mothers and their infants. The beneficiaries expressed profound appreciation to Mrs. Fausat Temitope Dauda for her generosity and thoughtful gesture, describing the initiative as timely and impactful.

 

Those in attendance included the Vice Chairman and Supervisor for Health, Hon. Abisola Omisore; the Wife of the Vice Chairman, Mrs. Omisore; the Council Manager, Mrs. Juliana Taiwo Odubeko; the Leader of the Legislative Arm, Hon. Rasheed Adisa Ogunseye, alongside other legislators; the Secretary to the Local Government, Prince Adeyinka Illo; the APC Ikeja Local Government Secretary, Princess Olutoyin Obaseki; the Special Adviser on Health, Mrs. Folashade Fajobi, who also delivered a goodwill message; as well as other Supervisory Councillors, Special Advisers and health professionals.
