The defection took place on Saturday at Nasarawa I Ward in Kebbi State, according to a statement released by the state government.
Receiving the defectors on behalf of the APC leadership, the party’s Vice Chairman for Kebbi Central, Alhaji Shehu Idris, who represented the state chairman, welcomed the new members and described their decision as a positive step.
He assured them that the APC would provide equal opportunities and continue to pursue policies aimed at improving the welfare of the people.

Idris said the ruling party remained committed to protecting the interests of residents and promised that the new entrants would be fully integrated into its structures.
Speaking at the event, Geda, who contested the ADC primary election for the Bunza/Birnin Kebbi/Kalgo Federal Constituency seat, said his decision to join the APC was influenced by the performance of Governor Nasir Idris.
According to him, the governor’s developmental projects and leadership style convinced him and his supporters to align with the ruling party.
“I saw all the good works you have done to the people of Kebbi State and for that I with my parents alongside the supporter have decided to support you and ensure you successed,” Geda said.
Responding, Governor Idris expressed appreciation to the defectors for joining the APC and pledged to work with them in advancing the development of the state.
He described the move as a demonstration of confidence in his administration and assured the new members of equal treatment within the party.
As part of the visit, the governor also met with Geda’s father, Alhaji Abubakar Geda, at his residence in Badariya, where he reiterated his administration’s commitment to inclusiveness and political cooperation.
In his remarks, Abubakar Geda pledged the support of his family and political associates for Governor Idris and the APC, expressing confidence in the governor’s leadership and backing his re-election bid.
