Owo, Ondo State – June 15, 2026 – The traditional ruler of Odo-Oriya community in Owo Local Government Area of Ondo State, Chief Adeniyi Adelana, has been abducted by suspected gunmen following a violent attack on his palace.
According to reports, the incident occurred on Saturday night when armed assailants stormed the monarch’s residence and forcefully whisked him away to an unknown destination. The attackers reportedly invaded the palace at about 8:05 p.m., creating panic among residents of the community.
During the attack, the monarch’s wife sustained a gunshot wound to her right hand while attempting to escape the assailants. She was subsequently rescued and taken to a medical facility, where she is receiving treatment.
The Ondo State Police Command has confirmed the incident and stated that security operatives have been deployed to the area. A search-and-rescue operation is currently underway to secure the safe release of the traditional ruler and apprehend those responsible for the abduction.
Authorities have assured the public that every effort is being made to rescue the monarch unharmed and bring the perpetrators to justice.
