Goodluck had just secured a new role as the company’s CEO when he perished in the accident, leaving his employer heartbroken.

“We were among the first people to be called immediately after the accident happened. We were supposed to travel together because we had opened another branch in Mwanza. We had planned to leave and travel together. However, a day before the trip, he received an email informing him that there would be an audit at the company. As a result, I had to leave with the other managers and leave him behind to oversee the audit process.

We completed the trip, and on the day we were returning, he told me he was still at the office. I advised him to go home and rest and told him that I would see him the following morning. At around 8pm, I received a phone call from my wife informing me about the accident,” he said.

David Mulokozi drives himself to accident scene

David emotionally recounted driving himself to the accident scene because he did not want to waste time waiting for someone else to drive him.

On his way, he contacted the company’s doctor and several officials, asking them to follow him while also arranging for an aircraft to be on standby in case Goodluck needed to be airlifted.

“We were informed along the way that Goodluck was no longer alive. I was in denial. I believed that perhaps when I arrived and spoke to him, he would wake up. When I got there, I called his name, but he did not respond.

“We had recently made major changes within the company. We had created opportunities, opened new branches, and promoted several employees. Just a day before his death, he had already moved into my office so that when I returned, we could sit down and I could officially announce him as the new CEO,” David shared.
