“I Couldn’t Continue Watching”- Outrage as Graphic Video Allegedly Shows Woman Being Abused by Bandits

A disturbing video allegedly showing a woman being abused while in the custody of bandits has triggered widespread outrage and emotional reactions online.

The footage, said to have emerged from Sabon Birni in Sokoto State, has drawn condemnation from Nigerians who expressed shock over the brutality depicted in the clip. Advocacy groups and concerned citizens have also urged the public not to share the video, warning that doing so could further traumatize the victim and her family.

Reacting to the incident, @Sweet_Maryama wrote, “This is normal for Hausa women and girls. They have been told we are not humans, so nothing will happen to them.”

@ibeamalu_j revealed that although they had seen the footage, they could not bring themselves to share it. “I’m with the video but my conscience won’t allow me to post it,” the user stated.

Expressing disbelief and concern, @iammozes wrote, “I heard that they rape men too. I don’t know how true this is.”

Several users said the content was too disturbing to watch. “I couldn’t continue watching. God have mercy,” @karo_manuel commented.

Similarly, @DrSydneyshoka described the situation as heartbreaking, writing, “This is heartbreaking. No right thinking humans will request for such video. This is just my personal opinion.”

Others linked the incident to the broader insecurity crisis facing the country. @Overuchenna blamed the government’s handling of security, while @haelkalista20 reflected on the victim’s ordeal, stating, “Painful truth is people in that situation are not thinking, they are enduring. This is not about what was said… it’s about the level of fear she was under.”
