Akwa Ibom State Governor Umo Eno has commissioned 4.8 kilometres of roads in Eket Local Government Area and reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to completing viable projects inherited from previous administrations.
The projects commissioned include the 2.4-kilometre Ikot Akpa Ikpo–Urua Udo Inyang Road and the 2.4-kilometre internal road network within Mkpok Estate Phases One and Two.
Speaking during the commissioning ceremonies, Governor Eno said his administration remains people-centred and committed to delivering infrastructure that improves the socio-economic well-being of residents.
Governor Eno noted that the Ikot Akpa Ikpo–Urua Udo Inyang Road was inherited from a previous administration and completed by his government because of its economic importance to Eket and neighbouring communities.

He disclosed that his administration is currently constructing about 38 kilometres of roads across Eket Local Government Area at various stages of completion and announced plans for an additional 12 kilometres, bringing the total road projects in the area to 50 kilometres.
He described the Mkpok Estate road network as significant to him, having lived and conducted business in the area for several years, adding that the completed roads would improve accessibility and movement within the estate.
He also urged youths to protect public infrastructure in their communities and announced plans to complete other ongoing projects in the area, including the State Football Academy.
Providing an overview of the projects, the Commissioner for Works and Fire Service, Eno Ibanga, said the roads were constructed with adequate drainage infrastructure and commended the governor for his commitment to infrastructure development and rural connectivity.

Speaking on behalf of the people of Eket, Chairman of Eket Local Government Area, Akaninyene Tommey, thanked the Governor for what he described as impactful development projects across the area.
He noted that the Ikot Akpa Ikpo–Urua Udo Inyang Road serves as an important link to several communities and provides access to the Urua Udo Inyang market.
Governor Eno also inspected the ongoing Afaha Atai and Iseyiridua road projects during his visit to Eket.
