“If I Become President in 2027, I Will Fix Electricity from Day One and Tackle Insecurity Immediately” — Sowore Declares

Human rights activist and politician Omoyele Sowore has promised sweeping reforms if elected President in the 2027 general elections, vowing to prioritize electricity supply and national security from the very first day in office.

Sowore made the declaration while addressing supporters and political stakeholders, reiterating his long-standing criticism of Nigeria’s power sector and worsening insecurity challenges across the country.

According to him, Nigeria’s development has been repeatedly stalled by two major issues — unstable electricity supply and persistent insecurity — both of which he insists can be solved with “political will and decisive leadership.”

He stated that if given the mandate in 2027, his administration would immediately begin implementing emergency measures to stabilize the national grid, expand power generation capacity, and ensure that Nigerians have access to reliable electricity without delay.

On insecurity, Sowore promised swift action aimed at restoring safety across communities, reducing violent crimes, and strengthening security institutions to respond more effectively to threats across the country.

He argued that Nigerians have suffered for too long under poor governance, adding that bold and immediate reforms are necessary to restore public confidence in leadership.

The remarks have since generated reactions online, with supporters praising his bold promises while critics question the feasibility of resolving such complex national challenges “immediately” upon assumption of office.

As the 2027 political season gradually takes shape, Sowore’s comments add to the growing debate over security, power supply, and the kind of leadership Nigerians want in the next election cycle.
