If Peter Obi Is Frustrated And Is Not On The Ballot, There Will Be No Election In 2027–Obioha

According to a report by Daily Post on Saturday, June 27, 2026, Rev. Dr. Okechukwu Christopher Obioha, Leader of the Njiko Igbo Forum, has warned that Nigeria may be unable to conduct the 2027 general election if Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi is prevented from appearing on the presidential ballot.

He made the statement while reacting to recent political and judicial developments, expressing concern over what he believes could be the implications for the country’s democratic process.

His remarks came after Friday’s judgment by the Federal High Court directing the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to deregister the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) as a political party.

The ruling has attracted public attention because of its potential impact on the nation’s political landscape ahead of the next general election.

The court examined the dispute surrounding the use of the party emblem in reaching its decision.

The court further held that the Peace Movement Party was not joined as a party in the original suit despite its claim to the disputed logo.

According to the judgment, the failure to include the PMP in the earlier proceedings affected its legal rights, prompting the court to issue the directive for the deregistration of the Nigeria Democratic Congress.

Speaking during an interview, Obioha alleged that public confidence in Nigeria’s judiciary had declined, arguing that inconsistent judicial decisions had contributed to growing distrust among citizens.

He also accused the current administration of weakening the judiciary, maintaining that the institution had lost the level of confidence it once enjoyed.

The Njiko Igbo Forum leader maintained that excluding Peter Obi from the 2027 presidential ballot could have far-reaching consequences for the electoral process.

He said the situation should not be ignored, insisting that his comments were intended as a warning to Nigerians about what he believes could unfold if such a development occurs.

He said: “If Peter Obi is frustrated and is not on the ballot, there will be no election in 2027. That’s not a threat. It is going to work out that way. I’m trying to… If you like, you can call it prophecy. I’m a reverend. Call it anything, but I’m just warning Nigerians.
