The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran has issued a strong condemnation following an alleged attack on a residential area in the suburbs of Beirut, Lebanon, which reportedly resulted in casualties.
In a statement released on Sunday, Iran described the incident as a “terrorist act” carried out by what it referred to as the “Zionist regime,” accusing it of violating Lebanon’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
The statement further alleged that the attack represents a breach of an existing ceasefire understanding and warned that it could have serious consequences for regional stability.
Iran Accuses Israel of Ceasefire Violation
According to the Iranian Foreign Ministry, the incident constitutes a direct violation of a ceasefire agreement reportedly reached in mid-April.
The ministry claimed that repeated actions by the Israeli government have undermined peace efforts in the region and escalated tensions across Lebanon and neighbouring areas.
Iran also suggested that responsibility for the consequences of continued military escalation lies with both Israel and its allies.
Warning of Possible Response
The statement emphasized that Iran reserves the right to respond under what it described as “legitimate defence,” citing international law and national security considerations.
It warned that continued aggression could trigger further instability in the region.
