The Kebbi State Police Command has arrested seven suspected bandits in connection with ongoing investigations into violent criminal activities in Bagudo Local Government Area of the state, including the recent killing of three officers of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC).
The arrests were carried out during coordinated, intelligence-led security operations aimed at dismantling criminal networks believed to be operating across forested border communities within the area.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bashir Usman, the operation led to the arrest of the suspects in separate locations following credible intelligence on their alleged involvement in logistics support and coordination for armed bandit groups.
Three of the suspects were reportedly intercepted along the Illo–Lolo Road while riding a motorcycle. Preliminary investigations suggest they were allegedly transporting food supplies to bandits hiding within forest camps. The motorcycle used in the operation was recovered by the police as evidence.
In a separate raid along the Bakin Ruwa–Ka’oje axis, four additional suspects were arrested as security operatives intensified efforts to disrupt supply routes and communication channels used by criminal elements in the region.
The arrests come in the wake of the killing of three FRSC personnel who were ambushed by suspected bandits while on official duty along the Tsamiya–Illo Road in Bagudo Local Government Area. The incident triggered renewed security operations and heightened surveillance across vulnerable routes in the state.
Commissioner of Police, CP Umar Hadejia, commended the officers involved in the operation and acknowledged the role of local intelligence in supporting the arrests. He assured residents that efforts are being intensified to restore peace and security across affected communities.
The suspects remain in police custody and are expected to be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.
