A Kenyan family is desperately seeking answers after their kin, Simon Karongo Itati, mysteriously disappeared while living in the US, leaving behind a decade of uncertainty and anguish.

According to family members, Simon moved to America in 2010 after successfully obtaining a Green Card through the Diversity Visa Lottery programme.
Like many Kenyans pursuing opportunities abroad, he left home with hopes of building a brighter future and creating new possibilities for himself and his loved ones.
He reportedly settled in Huntsville, Alabama, where he lived and worked while adapting to life in a foreign country.

During his first years in America, Simon remained in regular contact with relatives back home, reassuring them that he was settling in well and pursuing his ambitions.
His calls and messages offered comfort to family members who missed him but were encouraged by his progress overseas.
When did Simon stop communicating?
That reassurance, however, came to an abrupt end in March 2015. Without warning, all communication from Simon stopped.
Family members say they initially assumed he might be busy with work or experiencing temporary difficulties.
As days turned into weeks and weeks into months, concern began to grow. Repeated attempts to reach him through telephone numbers, social media accounts and known contacts yielded no answers.
What began as worry soon developed into a painful mystery.
Over the years, relatives have undertaken their own search, reaching out to friends, acquaintances and individuals who had previously assisted Simon after he relocated to the US.
They hoped someone would know where he was living, working or whether he had moved elsewhere. Yet every lead appeared to end in a dead end.
