The siblings reportedly came across the handwritten note while going through old family belongings, and were surprised by how deeply emotional and well-written it was.
In the letter shared in a TikTok video, their mother, then a young woman, expressed her love for her partner in a touching message addressed “Dear Davy,” before signing off sweetly as “Yours, Mariamu.”
What fascinated the siblings most was not only the romantic tone of the letter, but also their mother’s flawless English and expressive writing style at the time. They said they had never imagined she could write so eloquently and passionately in her youth.
“Mum, I have found the letter that you wrote Dad on January, 7th 1988. You wrote it in English. Funny thing is, if you speak English to her now, she doesn’t like it,” the daughter said while holding out the letter.
