What time did Uthiru heist take place?

The video showed a white car arriving at the scene at around 2 a.m. with its headlights on.

The driver reversed the vehicle onto a smaller road where the suspects were less likely to attract attention as they prepared to carry out the alleged theft.

He then switched off the headlights before he and two other men got out of the car and walked toward a closed stall they allegedly intended to break into.

One of the men, who was wearing a blue apron and a red cap, appeared to inspect the stall while showing his accomplices where they could force entry.

Kenyans react to Uthiru CCTV footage

Social media users flooded the comment section with reactions, expressing concern over the incident and questioning the growing insecurity.

Senior Mkarabati:

“I have always said CCTV cameras are not security gadgets. They only help you know what happened. The best CCTV systems should trigger an alarm wherever you are so you can organise a response.”

Mauryne Ogenga:

“I can imagine the shock the owner got when they arrived at the shop. These people probably knew the owner, especially the lady, and they even left the shop open.”

Allan Gika:

“There is no way you can load all those gas cylinders into that small car and still accommodate the three suspects, even if the cylinders were empty.”

Baba Shiru N Murugu:

“Kwani Kitui Wakamba waliokoka wote? Watu kama hawa wanafaa kuokota makaratasi. Wako na nguvu sana.”
