“I have come across many stories on the streets, but this one is especially painful. In Kahawa Wendani, outside Cleanshelf Supermarket, David Wachira has been through so much. After separating from his wife, Gakii, he sank into depression, which led to alcoholism. He is now living on the streets, though memories of the days when he had a home in Githurai 44 remain fresh in his mind. His wife left with their son, Emmanuel, shortly after he lost his job at Farmers Choice,” said well-wisher Derrick Mbugua.

“I had a good life, but when I lost my job and my wife left me, I fell into depression. I became addicted to alcohol. I have gone to rehabilitation in an attempt to quit drinking, but unfortunately, I relapsed. Life has been very difficult for me. My wife left and switched off her phone. I have been trying different hustles to survive, but life has been unkind to me,” he said emotionally.

Despite his struggles, Wachira expressed his willingness to rebuild his life if given an opportunity, promising to work hard and remain committed to any job or business venture.
