Life in Lagos more expensive than US – Singer BNXN claims after relocating + Video

Nigerian singer Daniel Benson, popularly known as BNXN (formerly Buju), has sparked widespread debate online after claiming that living in Lagos is more expensive than Los Angeles, United States.

The artiste spoke during a TikTok livestream following his relocation to the US.

BNXN said that aside from regular bills, life in the US feels more structured and less stressful compared to Lagos.

He noted that since arriving in the US, he has not encountered “egbon adugbo” (local area boys/hoodlums) or street beggars constantly demanding money, which is a frequent expense for celebrities and residents in Lagos.

The singer emphasized that outside of high rental costs, daily life in America is straightforward.

“I was telling someone, since I got to the United States, nobody has asked me to give them money. And people are also suffering here.

“Lagos is super expensive. It is more expensive than Los Angeles. Aside from housing, every other thing in LA is not expensive.

“For instance, I am paying $12,000 monthly for my rent. Here you just pay your rent, and you’re good.”

His comments have sparked conversations online about the cost of living in Lagos compared to major global cities like Los Angeles, with fans divided over his assessment.
