He had barely enough warm clothing as he sat outside a doorway, hoping that a well-wisher might come to his aid.

Is the weather cold in Germany?

“I am from Eritrea. I sleep outside. I have been in Germany and homeless for nine years. I have not communicated with my family back home because I do not have their phone numbers. I also do not have a wife or children. My documents are in the system, but I do not have the physical copies,” he said.

The man explained that Europe is not a place where one automatically finds money and success, noting that life there comes with many challenges and processes.

He said he would rather return home to Africa than continue living in a foreign country without adequate clothing, shelter, or food.

“The weather is cold, and I do not have a jacket. I have been homeless for years without proper clothing. I have no relatives in Germany, and I have no one to call,” he said shakily.
