The story of 25-year-old Mary Claire Ochieng’ has resurfaced three months after she was doused with acid in an attack allegedly orchestrated by her estranged boyfriend, Elvis.

Claire suffered severe burns to her face, hands, chest and thighs after two men on a motorcycle attacked her in March 2026 while she was heading home from work along Ngong Road.
Investigations revealed that the suspects allegedly poured concentrated sulphuric acid on her under the instructions of her ex-boyfriend, who is alleged to be an NIS officer, following a bitter break-up.
The 25-year-old spent months in hospital and is still recovering from the life-altering injuries as she continues to seek justice.

Speaking for the first time in an interview with Citizen TV, Claire shared her side of the story and sought to dispel rumours surrounding her relationship with Elvis, as well as the horrific ordeal she endured.
She revealed disturbing details, including claims that she had been attacked several times before by the man she once loved.
Moreover, she shared screenshots of conversations with the prime suspect in the alleged attack, showing desperate pleas for love alongside chilling threats to her life.
“We met in 2019 during a church event but started dating in 2021. I did not know he was married, but by the second year of our relationship, there were speculations that he had a wife. I wasn’t sure because there was no one I could ask directly. Two months later, I confirmed that he was indeed married, although he denied it when I confronted him,” said Claire.

In April 2025, Claire finally decided to end the relationship after discovering a trail of lies. Elvis had allegedly told her he only had a baby mama, yet she later learned that he had a wife and two children.
WhatsApp chats reveal alleged threats to Mary Claire
The young woman shared screenshots of messages in which she pleaded with Elvis to resolve issues with his wife and allow her to move on. Instead, she claimed he asked her to block his wife and even threatened violence.
“I told you to block her. I will beat and kill this woman. I told Ephy never to call or text you, and that is what brought issues. I am not looking for her again, and I will find a way for the kids. Only death will separate you and me,” one of the messages allegedly read.
Several other messages showed the prime suspect allegedly offering Claire money on different occasions and even offering to buy her an iPhone worth KSh 185,000 as an apology for the pain he had caused her.
However, Claire declined the offers and repeatedly told him not to send her any money, insisting she was no longer interested.

Suspect allegedly demanded gifts back after break-up
According to Claire, Elvis did not believe the relationship was over until he decided it was.
She claimed he sent several messages demanding that she return everything he had given her during the relationship, including clothes, glasses, shoes and money, before she could leave him.
He also allegedly demanded that she quit the job she had secured through his connections, insisting that if she was leaving him, she had to walk away from everything he had helped her obtain.
