The Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries (MFM) has directed all its branches across Nigeria to suspend night vigils and other overnight church programmes as concerns over insecurity continue to rise across the country.
The directive was contained in an internal memo dated June 5, 2026, and signed by the Director of Administration at the church’s international headquarters in Lagos, Temitope A. Olawale.
According to the memo, all church activities under the Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries (MFM) must now end by 8:00 p.m. nationwide until further notice. The decision affects all branches of the ministry across Nigeria.
The church explained that the measure was taken to protect the safety and well-being of members and workers, especially in light of the current security challenges affecting different parts of the country.
Night vigils, which are a key spiritual practice within the Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries (MFM), often attract large gatherings of worshippers who participate in prayers, deliverance sessions, and overnight spiritual programmes. However, church authorities said the suspension was necessary to reduce exposure to risks linked to late-night movement and gatherings.
In recent times, Nigeria has witnessed growing concerns over insecurity, including incidents of kidnapping, armed robbery, and other violent attacks. These developments have pushed religious bodies and institutions to adopt precautionary measures aimed at ensuring the safety of their members.
While the suspension of vigils may affect long-standing worship traditions within the Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries (MFM), the leadership emphasized that the decision was made in the best interest of members and should be seen as a preventive safety step.
Members across all branches have been urged to comply with the new directive and continue their spiritual activities within the approved time frame.
The ministry has not announced when the suspension will be lifted but assured worshippers that further updates will be provided as the security situation in the country improves.
