A woman in Nairobi County is counting herself lucky after escaping a near-death experience in Nairobi’s Central Business District (CBD).
The young lady came close to losing her life or sustaining serious injuries after she was almost sandwiched between two matatus.
“This is Nairobi. One wrong move and you are there making headlines,” read the caption, summarising just how close the lady came to meeting her fate.

The video was shared on TikTok by user Hakeel Mwenyewe, who was on his motorbike at the time the incident unfolded before his eyes.

It happened in broad daylight while he was stuck in traffic, waiting for the road to clear so he could continue his journey.
The vehicles were parked so close to each other that pedestrians had to squeeze through narrow spaces to cross to the other side.
Motorists patiently waited for an opportunity to move forward, even by a few inches, to get closer to their destinations.
There was a bus in front of Hakeel and, on his right, two matatus parked very close to each other, as seen in the viral video.

She was looking for a space to cross to the other side of the road before traffic started moving again.
She carefully made her way between the vehicles until she reached a point where two matatus were parked extremely close together.
Thinking the matatus would remain stationary for a little longer, she decided to take a risk and squeeze through the narrow gap.

However, just as she was about to cross, the matatu in front of her suddenly reversed, prompting the driver behind to honk as the woman was almost crushed.
She screamed in shock, alerting the driver not to reverse any further because she was already trapped between the vehicles.
It was a chilling moment as the driver eventually moved slightly forward, seemingly trying to create space for the woman, who was wearing a red half-sweater, to pass.
However, angry and shaken by the incident, she chose not to use the space and instead looked for another route to cross.
