Following the unfortunate derailment of a train at Agbor, the Nigerian Red Cross Society (NRCS) Delta State Branch has swiftly deployed teams to execute critical search, rescue, and life-saving operations.
Branch Secretary of the NRCS- Delta State Branch, Charles Arinomor, confirmed that Red Cross volunteers immediately arrived at the scene to commence emergency efforts in close collaboration with railway staff, local community members, and other key stakeholders.
Evaluation of field operations showed that the emergency response has already yielded critical progress as stranded passengers have been moved to Agbor town to facilitate onward transit to their various destinations.
The injured have also been evacuated and were receiving medical care at the Agbor Central Hospital.
The response team successfully executed search and rescue, immediate first-aid management, and the provision of Psychosocial Support (PSS) to affected individuals.
The Nigerian Red Cross Society remains committed to working alongside state authorities and emergency services to provide comfort, medical aid, and relief to all affected passengers and their families.
