Minister of Works Dave Umahi has hit back at critics who attacked him over the completed Abuja-Kaduna-Kano road corridor, revealing in an interview on SYMFONI TV that the political fallout from those attacks cost some of them their Senate seats.
Umahi took direct aim at Senator Adams Oshiomhole and Senator Anga, saying their opposition to the project was uninformed and politically motivated.
”During the project, some people who did not even know about it were attacking me,” he said. “My good friend and brother, Senator Adams Oshiomhole, was concerned about the contractor because he had not visited the site. But I saw it as politics.”
The minister did not stop there. He linked the criticism directly to electoral consequences, stating, “Technically, anybody that attacked me on this route lost his ticket to return to the Senate.”
The minister’s remarks signal a sharp response to opposition voices who questioned his handling of one of Nigeria’s most significant road infrastructure projects, framing their criticism as politically driven rather than grounded in any firsthand knowledge of the work done on the ground.
