Owners told to park away from homes as Jeep fire risk triggers recall

Stellantis has announced a global recall of over 1.3 million Jeep Wrangler and Gladiator SUVs and trucks due to fire concerns, advising owners to park their vehicles away from structures or other vehicles until repairs are completed.

The recall affects 2021-2025 model-year Jeep Wrangler and Gladiator vehicles.

The issue involves an electrical connection in the electric-hydraulic power steering pump wiring that, in rare circumstances, could cause combustible materials to overheat and potentially cause a vehicle fire.

Approximately 1.08 million of the affected vehicles are in the United States, with 106,000 in Canada, 23,000 in Mexico, and around 125,000 in other global markets.

Stellantis plans to inspect and potentially repair or replace the wiring harness or the electric hydraulic power steering pump.

The company anticipates the fix will be available no later than July. One potential injury has been reported in connection with the issue, though no crashes or fatalities have occurred.
