The governor defeated his closest challenger, Wole Oluyede of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who garnered 40,543 votes.

The governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Oluwadare Bejide, placed third with a total of 12,872 votes.

Oyebanji’s strongest performance came from the state capital, Ado Ekiti, as well as several rural councils, including Moba and Ekiti East.

His largest vote haul was recorded in Ado Ekiti, where he secured 38,026 votes, far ahead of the PDP candidate, who polled 3,817 votes.

Other major victories for the APC candidate came from Irepodun/Ifelodun, where he scored 29,278 votes; Ekiti West, 28,258 votes; Ikole, 26,508 votes; and Ekiti East, 26,359 votes.

While the APC dominated across the state, Ikere Local Government Area, the home council of PDP candidate Wole Oluyede, produced the closest contest of the election.

The margin of 1,224 votes recorded in the local government represented the narrowest gap between the APC and PDP in any part of the state. Despite the tighter contest, Oyebanji still emerged victorious.

With the victory, Oyebanji made history as the first governor in Ekiti State to secure consecutive re-election since the return of democratic rule in 1999.
