The Leader of the INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, Primate Elijah Ayodele, has criticised First Lady Oluremi Tinubu over her inaction on the abduction of pupils and teachers in Oyo State, warning that her continuation of political campaigns in the midst of it will cost President Bola Tinubu his re-election bid in 2027.
He condemned the political activities of the First Lady while the abductees are still in the den of their abductors two weeks after.
The cleric, in one of his sermons, condemned her active involvement in politicking while pupils and teachers abducted by bandits from three schools in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State on May 15 languished in captivity.
According to Ayodele, Senator Tinubu has not behaved like a good mother by seeking her husband’s re-election amid the hostages’ plight.
He added that she should have shown concern like a former First Lady, Dr. Patience Jonathan, did when schoolgirls were abducted in Chibok, Borno State in 2014.
The video of Primate Ayodele rebuking Mrs. Tinubu emerged on the internet on Friday.
He said: “Remi Tinubu, you will make Tinubu lose the 2027 election.
“You did not behave like a mother at all.
“You should have done what Jonathan’s wife did.”
Ayodele also said she did not take visible action over the abducted Oyo State schoolchildren.
He said: “You never protested and demanded that these Oyo schoolchildren be brought back.
“Instead, you were busy distributing cars for political campaigns.
“I will tell you the truth.”
Recall that the First Lady recently donated cars to woman leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in five states controlled by the opposition.
The donation took place during the inauguration of the Tinubu Torchbearers (TTB), a pro-Tinubu support group, held at the State House banquet hall in Abuja.
In his reaction to the development, the cleric warned that prioritising 2027 election campaigns over severe security crises will alienate voters and destroy the President’s political future.
Speaking in Pidgin, Ayodele said: “You did not campaign for the release of these children.
“You are only sharing cars for 36 states.
“Mama Tinubu will make Tinubu to lose o.
“You carry power for head, Mama Tinubu.
“You go lose this election.
“If you don’t be careful.
“Because you no care for these children.
“Be careful, Nigerians no dey happy.
“You dey do campaign.”
Ayodele’s criticism of the First Lady came amid nationwide outrage and protests over the abduction of the schoolchildren.
