Police Arrest 20-Year-Old Woman Over Alleged Killing Of 97-Year-Old Grandmother In Katsina

The Katsina State Police Command has arrested a 20-year-old woman for allegedly killing her 97-year-old grandmother in the Daura Local Government Area of the state.

According to the police, the incident occurred at approximately 7:00 p.m. on June 12, 2026, when an argument reportedly broke out between the suspect and her paternal grandmother.

Police investigations revealed that during the altercation, the suspect allegedly struck the elderly woman on the head with a wooden chair, inflicting serious injuries.

The victim was found unconscious in a pool of blood when police operatives responded to a distress report lodged at the Sabon Garin Daura Police Station by the suspect’s father.

She was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment, but was later confirmed dead by the attending doctor.

The spokesperson for the Katsina State Police Command, DSP Abubakar Sadiq, said the suspect was arrested during the investigation and reportedly confessed to the act.

He added that the suspect remains in police custody and will be charged in court upon the conclusion of investigations.

The command assured residents that justice would be served and pledged to keep the public informed of further developments in the case.
