Yenagoa, Bayelsa State – The Bayelsa State Police Command has arrested a man identified as Ibobuminaten Oweifa for allegedly setting another resident, Godgift Biko, on fire over an accusation of wood theft in Okodi Community, Ogbia Local Government Area of Bayelsa State.
According to reports, the incident occurred after Oweifa allegedly accused Biko of stealing wood within the community. The disagreement reportedly escalated into violence, resulting in the suspect allegedly pouring fuel on the victim and setting him ablaze.
Residents of the community were left shocked by the incident, which has generated widespread concern and condemnation among locals. Witnesses said the victim sustained severe burns and was rushed for medical treatment following the attack.
