Police arrest two wanted armed robbery suspects in Adamawa

The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested two wanted armed robbery suspects who have been on the command’s wanted list since last year.

In a statement issued on Friday, the spokesman of the command, SP Suleiman Nguroje, stated that the notorious robbery suspects were arrested by Operation Sanity in Mubi, Adamawa State.

“The suspects, Abdulhamid Salihu alias (Baban Anty) and Bello Yahaya alias (Baban Yambiyu), were arrested following a robbery incident that occurred in the early hours of June 10, 2026, at Unguwar Kara, Mubi.

“The suspects, alongside two accomplices currently at large, allegedly attacked one Mustapha Ali, inflicted injuries on him, and dispossessed him of cash and other valuables.

“Through sustained intelligence-led operations, police operatives attached to Mubi South and Mubi North tracked and apprehended the suspects.”

The statement disclosed that exhibits recovered include stolen mobile phones, jewellery, handbags, travelling bags, and the weapons allegedly used in committing the crime.

“While investigation is ongoing, efforts are being intensified to arrest the remaining fleeing suspects and bring them to justice.”

According to the statement, the Adamawa State Police Command remains committed to sustaining the ongoing crackdown on criminal elements and ensuring the safety and security of residents across the state.
