The Katsina State Police Command has recorded another breakthrough in its sustained fight against crime, successfully foiling a suspected bandits’ attack in the Dandume Local Government Area.
The Command disclosed that on June 28, 2026, at about 6:30 p.m., a distress call alerted police to the movement of a large group of armed bandits riding motorcycles along the Kadisau–Sheme Road in Dandume LGA.
Acting swiftly, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) mobilised operatives of the Violent Crimes Response Unit (VCRU) alongside members of the Katsina State Community Watch Corps (KSCWC) to the scene.
The security team engaged the bandits in a fierce gun battle, forcing the criminals to flee into the bush due to the operatives’ superior firepower and tactical response.
The fleeing suspects abandoned two operational motorcycles and a machete, all of which were recovered as exhibits.
According to a statement issued on Monday by the Police Public Relations Officer of the Katsina Command, Abubakar Sadiq, efforts are ongoing to track down and arrest the fleeing suspects.
