Politicians Are Protected, Citizens Are Not — Odumeje Raises Alarm Over Insecurity

Popular cleric, Prophet Chukwuemeka Cyril Ohanaemere, widely known as Odumeje, has criticized the state of governance and security in Nigeria, urging citizens to demand accountability from leaders and elect competent candidates capable of transforming the country.

Speaking on national issues, Odumeje questioned the government’s handling of insecurity, particularly the reported abduction of schoolchildren and teachers in Oyo State. He expressed concern that authorities appeared unable to account for the whereabouts of the victims while negotiations with armed groups continued.

The cleric also criticized political leaders for enjoying extensive security protection while ordinary citizens remain vulnerable to attacks. According to him, public officials travel in bulletproof vehicles and often have family members living abroad, while millions of Nigerians contend with insecurity and economic hardship.

Odumeje further lamented the country’s persistent challenges, including inadequate electricity supply, poor road infrastructure, and insecurity. He argued that projects funded with public resources should not be presented as personal achievements by politicians, stressing that government officials are obligated to serve the people.

Calling for greater civic engagement, the pastor urged Nigerians to unite and support credible leaders with the capacity to attract investment, improve governance, and drive national development.

He also appealed to religious leaders to speak openly about the country’s challenges and encourage citizens to become more involved in shaping Nigeria’s future through responsible political participation.
