Chibok, Borno State – June 14, 2026. Suspected Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists have reportedly attacked Kautikari village in Chibok Local Government Area of Borno State, setting educational facilities ablaze in the latest wave of insurgent violence targeting communities in Nigeria’s North-East region.
According to local sources, the attackers stormed the village and set fire to both the community’s primary school and Government Day Secondary School, causing extensive damage to the buildings and disrupting educational activities.
Residents said the attack occurred during a period of heightened insecurity in parts of Borno State, where insurgent groups have continued to carry out raids on rural communities despite ongoing military operations aimed at restoring peace to the region.
The destruction of the schools has sparked concern among community leaders and education advocates, who fear that the attack could further undermine access to education in an area already affected by years of conflict. Chibok remains a symbol of the devastating impact of insurgency on education following the 2014 abduction of more than 200 schoolgirls by Boko Haram.
Local sources indicated that many residents fled their homes as the attackers moved through the village. While reports confirmed significant damage to the school facilities, details regarding casualties or injuries were not immediately available at the time of filing this report.
