Tension in Cross River as Armed Cameroonian Officers Enter Nigerian Border Community

More than 200 armed Cameroonian officers entered the Danare community in Nigeria’s Cross River State on Wednesday morning without following established border protocols, sparking widespread alarm among residents.

Former Boki Local Government Area Vice Chairman, Hon. Kingsley Mbia, intervened by confronting the group, warning of sovereignty violations before successfully de-escalating the situation through peaceful dialogue.

The incident echoes similar incursions recorded in 2017 and 2018, which were linked to Cameroon’s ongoing separatist conflict.

The border area is also known to host refugees connected to the crisis.

No official response has been issued by Nigerian authorities as of the time of reporting.
