Earlier this year, Denrele Edun had responded to an X user who called him an old faker because popular crossdresser Bobrisky left Nigeria. He let him know that he is a legend, and legends don’t resurrect. He said he had never left the stage and noted that he had been in the business for 30 years.

Last year, Denrele had given a befitting response to a Twitter user who questioned his sexuality. Edun responded, demanding the tweep clarify his statement, as he gave him a sarcastic response.

In 2023, at an event, while on stage, Denrele Edun had asked his senior colleague, Frank Edoho for his daughter’s hand in marriage. Frank has always given himself humorous responses.

While counting down to celebrating 3 decades in the Entertainment Industry, Denrele recalled how a famous DJ’s wife told his favourite designer not to style him and to avoid touching his kids, thinking he had aids. He noted how he had been labelled several names, from Anorexic to Malnourished and even HIV positive, and now he was adding weight, and it was so beautiful for him to see.

In a  past interview, Denrele recounted how he was almost sexually harassed by a UNILAG lecturer, as the lecturer mistook him for a female because of his cross-dressing. He alleged that the lecturer wanted him to perform oral sex with him, but he respectfully refused.

In early 2025, he recounted his early struggles and rise to fame, revealing that he was once a cage dancer for the African Shrine and did everything to hustle while still in the University.
