Gospel singer Judikay has opened up about a frightening experience she encountered while expecting her second child, revealing how a medical report during her pregnancy left her deeply shaken.
The singer, whose real name is Judith Kanayo-Oparam, recently welcomed her second child with her husband after several years of waiting to expand their family.
Speaking during her daughter’s dedication service at church, Judikay recounted an incident that occurred while she was in Canada preparing for the birth of her baby. According to her, she was about 34 weeks pregnant when she went for a routine ultrasound scan.
During the examination, the sonographer reportedly asked her to change positions and applied pressure to her abdomen while carrying out the procedure. As the scan progressed, the medical professional allegedly informed her that there were concerning findings regarding the baby.
Judikay said she was told that her unborn child was not breathing and appeared to have no nose. She further disclosed that doctors suggested conducting additional tests for Down syndrome.
The alarming report left her distressed, prompting her to immediately contact her husband. Rather than dwelling on the diagnosis, she said her husband encouraged her to discard the report and focus on their faith. The couple then spent time praying and giving thanks for their unborn child.
The singer added that despite the worrying predictions, her baby was eventually delivered safely. However, she revealed that doctors later discovered the child had the umbilical cord wrapped around her neck twice while still in the womb.
Judikay shared the testimony as a reflection on her journey through pregnancy and the challenges she faced before welcoming her daughter.
In her words: “At 34 weeks, I traveled to Canada to have my baby, and I went for a scan. They said she did not have a nose and that I would need to do a Down syndrome test, and also that she was not breathing. I called my husband, and he said I should tear the report and that we were not going to do any test.”
