A Nigerian woman has shared the painful moment kidnappers allegedly shot her 66-year-old mother to death while they were both held captive in the forest.
In a video shared on X (formerly Twitter), the lady, who was abducted alongside her mother and assistant on May 9, said the kidnappers initially demanded ₦200 million ransom and kept torturing them whenever their families failed to meet the demand.
Narrating the ordeal, she said:
“They carried us from my mum’s house, me, my mum and my assistant. They carried us straight into the bush. We trekked and trekked all night. During the daytime, they would make us rest, but at night we kept walking until we entered the forest.”
She said more families were later brought into the camp as the kidnappers continued moving them from one place to another.
According to her, tragedy struck on May 15 after the kidnappers asked her mother and another woman their ages before moving them away with a 15-year-old boy.
“They argued about whether to kill them or not. Before we knew it, they shot. The bullet passed through the other woman and hit my mum. We were watching everything happen. I could still hear my mummy praying before she finally gave up,” she added.
The lady added that the remaining captives were eventually released after her family reportedly paid ₦11 million ransom alongside food items and other supplies demanded by the kidnappers.
The heartbreaking story has sparked reactions online, with many Nigerians sympathising with the victim and calling for urgent action against rising insecurity.
