A lady has taken to social media to express her frustration after waking up to find her neighbourhood heavily flooded following a heavy downpour.
According to her, floodwater had risen to knee level in some parts of the compound, forcing residents to wade through the water just to move around.
She explained that her own apartment was spared from the flooding because her building is slightly elevated compared to neighbouring houses, many of which were completely affected.
The woman also criticised the state of the area, questioning why people would spend millions of naira to live in a location that is frequently affected by flooding.
Describing the scene, she said, “Guys I woke up to see my compound like this. The water is so deep that it is reaching that lady on her knee.”
She further added, “How can somebody pay N10m to be staying at a flooded place. If not that my compound is a little higher all this water would have come into my house. All the people on the street water entered their houses.”
Her post has since sparked reactions online, with many users sympathising with affected residents and raising concerns about poor drainage systems and recurring flooding in some residential areas.
Others also shared similar experiences in their own communities, calling on relevant authorities to improve urban planning and drainage infrastructure to reduce the impact of heavy rainfall.
