Trump accuses Iran of bad-faith talks, condemns alleged drone attack on Indian ships

US President Donald Trump on Friday accused Iran of acting in bad faith during ongoing negotiations and strongly condemned what he described as a failed drone attack on Indian ships leaving the Strait of Hormuz.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump rejected claims attributed to Iran regarding the terms of a potential agreement between the two sides.

“The terms that Iran leaked out to the Fake News have NOTHING to do with the terms that were agreed to, in writing,” Trump wrote. He accused Tehran of misrepresenting the negotiations and said the Iranian version of events “bears no relation to the truth.”
Calling Iranian officials “very dishonorable people to deal with,” Trump added that “there is no such thing as dealing in good faith” with the country.

Trump also referred to an alleged drone attack targeting Indian ships transiting the Strait of Hormuz.

“Their totally rebuffed Drone attack last night against Indian Ships leaving the Hormuz Strait is TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE,” he said, without providing further details. “They better get their act together, and FAST!”

The remarks come amid heightened tensions between the United States and Iran following a series of maritime incidents in the Gulf region.

Earlier this week, the US Central Command (CENTCOM) said American forces had carried out operations against vessels that it alleged were violating restrictions linked to Iran. Among the vessels targeted were tankers carrying Indian crew members, incidents that triggered strong reactions in New Delhi.

India’s Ministry of External Affairs subsequently summoned the Chargé d’Affaires at the US Embassy in New Delhi to lodge a formal protest over the attacks. Indian authorities condemned the strikes after Indian sailors were killed and injured in separate incidents involving commercial vessels operating near Oman and the Strait of Hormuz.

The diplomatic protest marked the second consecutive day that India summoned the senior-most US diplomat in the country over the attacks and the safety of Indian seafarers operating in the region.

The latest exchange underscores the growing risks facing commercial shipping in one of the world’s most important energy corridors, with tensions between Washington and Tehran continuing to threaten maritime trade and energy supplies.

Neither Iranian authorities nor independent maritime agencies immediately commented on Trump’s allegation regarding the reported drone attack on Indian ships.
