Tiwa Savage has shared a candid reflection on how she eventually found her way into the Nigerian music industry, revealing that her path into stardom was far less formal than many people assume.

The award-winning singer explained that she was never officially signed under the legendary Mo’Hits Records. Instead, her early connection to the music scene came through casual interactions and friendships around the time when Don Jazzy was transitioning into building what later became Mavin Records.

According to her, she was initially just around as a friend when Don Jazzy began the new label, but she remained determined to become part of the movement. She then took bold steps to pursue her dream, repeatedly expressing her interest in being signed.

Tiwa Savage recalled her persistence in her own words:

“I was never officially part of MoHits; I just came as a friend when Don Jazzy started Mavins, and I shamelessly begged him again to sign me, and he agreed.”

Her honesty highlights the determination behind her success and how she refused to give up on her ambitions, even when she did not yet have an official spot in the industry.

That persistence eventually paid off, as Don Jazzy agreed to sign her, marking the beginning of a breakthrough journey that would later establish her as one of Africa’s biggest music stars, Tiwa Savage.
