US President called the the alleged attack a “foolish violation” of the ceasefire agreement.
The development comes at a fragile stage in efforts by the United States and Iran to negotiate a permanent end to the conflict, following the interim ceasefire reached last week.
Separately, a missile warning issued in the United Arab Emirates on Friday due to a technical glitch highlighted the continued tensions in the region. The mobile phone alert, sent by the UAE’s Interior Ministry, startled residents across Dubai and marked the first such warning in the city since the interim ceasefire.
Shortly after the alert, UAE Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan held a telephone conversation with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi.
