A healthcare worker in the United States has been arrested and charged after a viral social media video allegedly showed her engaging in inappropriate conduct toward a disabled patient under her care.
The suspect, identified by authorities as 19-year-old Lucrecia Kormassa Koiyan, was taken into custody by the Loganville Police Department in Georgia following an investigation into videos that circulated widely online.
According to law enforcement officials, the videos allegedly showed the caregiver, who was wearing medical scrubs, twerking over the head of a disabled male patient while recording the incident. Authorities said the patient was considered a vulnerable individual and that the footage raised serious concerns regarding his treatment and dignity.
Following the emergence of the videos on social media platforms, police launched an investigation and obtained a warrant for the suspect’s arrest. She was subsequently charged with felony exploitation of a disabled person.
In a statement, investigators emphasized the importance of protecting vulnerable individuals from abuse, neglect, and exploitation. Authorities noted that caregivers are entrusted with the responsibility of ensuring the safety, well-being, and dignity of those under their supervision.
The incident has generated widespread public outrage, with many social media users and healthcare professionals condemning the behavior. Critics argued that the actions displayed in the video were unprofessional and disrespectful, particularly given the patient’s vulnerable condition.
The suspect later addressed the controversy online, reportedly claiming that the video had been taken out of context and that the patient was capable of communicating. However, authorities proceeded with the criminal charge as investigations continued.
