We Are Not Happy — Wike Blasts Super Eagles Over World Cup Absence

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has expressed disappointment over the performance of Nigeria’s senior national football team, the Super Eagles, following their failure to qualify for the FIFA World Cup.

Speaking at a public event, Wike said Nigerians were unhappy with the team’s inability to secure a place at the global football tournament, noting that several countries many Nigerians were unfamiliar with had qualified ahead of the three-time African champions.

“Let me use this medium through you to tell the Super Eagles, we are not happy. I watched the World Cup, and countries I had never heard of before qualified to play at the World Cup, and I had to sit and watch them. We also have various players of Nigerian origin playing for different teams. We are not happy,” Wike said.
