A pro-President Bola Ahmed Tinubu support group staged a counter-protest in Abuja on Friday, voicing strong support for the administration while criticising opposition figures, including Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, over recent political tensions.
The demonstrators, who gathered in parts of the Federal Capital Territory, chanted solidarity slogans in support of President Tinubu, declaring: “We love President Tinubu. Because you want to be president, you hid our children, allow President Tinubu to work.”
The group also accused Governor Makinde of political overreach, alleging that he was using national issues to advance his presidential ambition ahead of the 2027 general elections. They further claimed that the governor had been linked to controversies involving missing or hidden children, although no evidence was provided to support the allegation.
The protesters insisted that President Tinubu should be allowed to focus on governance and implementation of his economic reforms without what they described as “politically motivated distractions” from opposition figures.
They maintained that the current administration was making efforts to stabilise the economy and improve governance across the country, urging Nigerians to support the federal government rather than engage in partisan confrontations.
The claims made by the group come amid rising political activity and increasing exchanges between supporters of the ruling party and opposition figures ahead of the 2027 elections.
