The Commissioner of Police in Rivers State has sparked reactions online after confronting police officers allegedly blocking a highway despite directives against such actions.
In a viral video making the rounds on social media, the police commissioner was heard questioning officers stationed on the road and reminding them of an earlier directive prohibiting unnecessary roadblocks.
Addressing the officers, he said:
“Why are you blocking the road? You didn’t hear when the commissioner of police said no police officer should block the road anymore for any reason? What’s your name? What’s your rank?”
The encounter has generated widespread discussion among Nigerians, with many praising the commissioner for holding officers accountable while others expressed skepticism about whether the action would lead to lasting changes on the roads.
