“Where did they go?” — Woman returns from owambe to find husband and children missing from home

A woman reportedly returned from attending a friend’s owambe party only to discover that her husband and children had moved out of their rented apartment while she was away.

According to details shared online, the couple had been facing financial difficulties and had accumulated two years of unpaid rent.

Their landlord had  issued a final warning, prompting discussions between the husband and wife about cutting expenses and saving money.

Family faces multiple challenges

The husband was said to have pleaded with his wife not to travel for the social event, explaining that the family needed to conserve every available naira.

However, she insisted on attending, noting that she had already purchased her aso ebi and did not want to disappoint her friend.

While she was away during the public holiday period, an incident occurred at home involving the couple’s children.

Reports indicated that the eldest child accidentally poured hot water on her younger sister while attempting to prepare a meal.

The injured child was rushed to hospital for treatment. The husband was contacted and left work immediately after efforts to reach his wife were unsuccessful. The child was later discharged after receiving medical attention.

Landlord ultimatum leads to relocation

During the same period, the landlord allegedly gave the family 48 hours to vacate the property. Faced with the deadline, the husband sold his motorcycle, borrowed money from his brother and secured a smaller apartment in another area.

With assistance from neighbours, he packed the family’s belongings and relocated with the children before his wife’s return.

When the woman arrived back from the party, she found the former apartment empty and locked.

She was said to have begun asking neighbours if anyone knew where her husband and children had moved.
