A family dispute has erupted after a woman reportedly ended her marriage following her husband’s alleged infidelity, sparking widespread debate on social media over faith, desperation, and marital responsibility.
The controversy began after an X user shared the story of a distant aunt who left her husband after discovering he was involved with another woman during a period of prolonged spiritual separation that she had undertaken in the hope of conceiving a child.
According to the account, the woman and her husband had spent 14 years without children, a situation that reportedly subjected her to emotional distress and pressure from relatives and society.
Search for a Child Led to Spiritual Journey
The X user claimed that after years of visiting churches, ministries, and prayer grounds without success, the woman was introduced by a friend to a prophet in Ikot-Ekpene who was reputed to help couples facing fertility challenges.
Without informing her husband beforehand, she allegedly travelled to meet the cleric and later returned with instructions she said were given by the prophet.
The directives reportedly included a strict 70-day period of fasting and prayer that required complete separation from her husband. According to the post, the couple were instructed not to share a room, eat together, or engage in activities that would bring them into close contact.
The woman’s husband was said to have opposed the arrangement, questioning the necessity of such restrictions. However, she reportedly insisted that the sacrifice was necessary, arguing that the pursuit of a child was worth the temporary hardship.
Marriage Collapses Before End of Fast
The situation allegedly took a dramatic turn before the fasting period was completed.
According to the social media account, the woman discovered her husband in a relationship with another woman during the separation period. Heartbroken by the development, she reportedly packed her belongings and left the marriage.
Rather than receiving sympathy, the woman is said to be facing criticism from some family members who blame her decision to embark on the spiritual exercise without her husband’s full support.
Many reportedly believe the prolonged separation created the conditions that led to the breakdown of the marriage.
